but one not-very-scary storm did affect the Cape Fear
Coast at the beginning of June. By the time it got into our offshore
waters, the former Tropical Storm Barry had disintegrated into a mere
depression, but it threatened wind and rain for a number of outdoor
weddings.
One of those was the June 2 marriage of Denise Moore and Jason
Wenzel on June 2, 2007 at Shell Island Resort on the north end of
Wrightsville Beach. The bride and groom were unfazed by the scant
drizzle and the guests had enough umbrellas. It began to pour and
blow 30 minutes later, but by everyone had retreated to the hotel’s
banquet room for the reception.
