Photography is a complex inter-
section of science and art. To capture a moment’s unique combination of light and color has always
required mastery of technology, and that’s still true in the digital age.
Many of the wedding photographers in our region have applied their creative
minds to both art and technology, as well as to the art of customer service.

Blake Baxendell of Bax Photography in Wilmington jumped right on the latest
electronic “toy” excitement as soon as Apple unveiled its new iPad tablet.

He’s now offering the option of taking delivery of a wedding photo album in
digital form, loaded on a brand-new iPad. This is an “a la carte” item, but is included in Bax’s
top-of-the-line wedding package. And, he adds, “it may be used as a substitute in
other packages if wanted.”

At indigosilver, his new studio in downtown Wilmington, Jeff Poole has taken
an original approach to the problem of making the best use of a small space.
To accommodate portrait sessions, the back of the storefront space is equipped
as a studio, with lighting, backdrops and props. But the same space can be opened up, with a clear
view from front door to back wall, for gallery exhibits and events.
All the studio gear is housed in an ingenious wall on wheels that can quickly be
rolled out of the way when the room needs to be reconfigured.
The indigosilver space also includes a private viewing lounge with a big-screen
TV and surround-sound audio system, where brides and grooms can consult with the photographers,
see samples and review slide
