  The wedding took place on the sand of Oak Island. The ceremonial circle and
aisle were outlined with a border of shells, painstakingly placed by hand.
 		 
 
Sometimes the simplest setting
is the most spectacular, and the decor for a wedding is provided freely by Mother Nature.
    In mid-September, it’s not officially Fall for another week yet and the ocean water is still near 80 degrees. For Tom Piotrowicz and Lori MacInnis of Durham, it was the ideal time for a Wednesday evening wedding by the sea.
    Oak Island is one of those rare places on the East Coast where the sun sets over the Atlantic. One of those priceless Carolina sunsets was the backdrop for the wedding ceremony.

A vacation rental house on
the oceanfront on East Beach Drive was the site of wedding and reception.
    Caterer Marcus Buric of Culinary Creations served the twilight reception dinner on tables between the house and the dunes, with flaming tiki torches for light.
    The walkover pathway through the dunes to the beach was marked with bows tied to the sand-fence posts.
