   If you are from out of town and getting married in the Cape Fear area, you may want to consider having your practice styles done by your regular stylist. Take pictures and carry them with you to the stylist who will be doing your hair on the day of the wedding.
   You want to have the same expectations as your usual stylist. You need to know exactly what to expect on the day of your wedding. After all, this day will be photographed and videotaped only once. Your hairstyle and makeup along with everything else should be one that is timeless.

Instead, consult a beauty professional several weeks before your wedding. Ask for a free trial run or beauty session - most makeup artists will gladly provide this service. If the professional is sincerely interested in helping you, they will teach as you watch and learn.

  • Use good quality, clean brushes to apply your foundation, eye and lip color.
  • Create a collection of your best colors, not just the trendy ones.
  • Have 2-3 eye shadows, 1-2 neutral blushes, same for lipcolor and lip liner, 1 sable eye pencil and 1 charcoal.
  • Women of all ages look brighter, fresher & younger when wearing warmer, peachy rose & apricot colors.
   “At a young age, I wanted to be an artist, especially with the tricky task of being able to draw people,“ says Kate Meyer, publisher and artist. “I learned that the eyes are the most important feature of the face. The eyes are the window to the soul. All women can enhance their seductive powers by simply enhancing their eyes.”

Both brides-to-be models, Amy and Kirsten, were given “makeovers” by two different makeup artists using different techniques and brands. Trucco cosmetics were used here. See above for artists using Mary Kay.

How you wear your hair on your wedding day is as important as your dress. “We advise brides-to-be to start early exploring how they want their hair to be styled,” says Kymbra Bryan, owner of
 
HairColorXperts.
   “Look at pictures and look at other local brides. Do not wait until days prior to the wedding to have your hair cut, colored or experimented with,
especially if you are using a new hairstylist.
   “Do not try and do something extreme or different the day of your wedding. Know what you are getting even if it means having to pay for additional hair appointments prior to your wedding. You will also know how much time to allot for your appointment, thereby eliminating the possibility of running late on the day of your wedding.
   “It is very important to establish a relationship with a hairstylist before the wedding day,” Kymbra advises.

Stylist Susan Garrett brushes Kirsten’s long hair into soft waves then tightens the curls, sweeps the hair back and upward, allowing the curls to cascade down Kirsten’s back, creating an elegant and flattering updo.
 
“Our approach to the hair and makeup demonstration was to achieve a fresh yet timeless look for each model,” explained Kymbra Bryant, owner of HairColorXperts. “The hair styles, ‘updo's’ were created to capture the essence of each model and how the style would complement what they might be wearing on their wedding day.”
