From the North
and Northeast
From Northeast and Mid-Atlantic states: follow I-95 South into North Carolina. At milepost 81, take I-40 East to Wilmington. U.S. 13 and U.S. 17 are slower coastal options.
From the Midwest
Take I-77 South or I-64 East to Charleston, W.Va. Follow West Virginia Turnpike ($6 toll for cars), continue on I-77 through Virginia into North Carolina. At milepost 101, take I-74/U.S. 52 to I-40; I-40 east to Wilmington.
From N.C.
Use I-40 East from Raleigh or points west; U.S. 74 from Charlotte area.

These recommendations are general, and focus on the fastest, most direct routes. Bypasses and loops around major cities can help avoid urban traffic congestion.

   Wilmington and the beaches have become wedding destinations, for many of the same reasons they are also tourist, and retirement, and relocation destinations.
    Good highway connections make it easy to get here from just about anywhere. Couples come to the Cape Fear coast from all over North Carolina, as well as many mid-Atlantic, Northeast and Midwestern states.
