A bridal registry is a free service offered by department stores and many specialty shops. It allows a bride to inform friends and relatives about her choices of home furnishings. It is a helpful guide for selecting gifts for showers and the wedding itself.
An appropriate way to spread the word about where a bride has registered is through bridesmaids, the bride's mother, and other relatives. The words "Registered at _________" on shower invitations are also acceptable. Bridal registry information should not be included on wedding invitations.
Registries typically offer choices ranging from such traditional gifts as china, crystal, silverware, kitchen appliances and linens to more specialized goods, including lingerie, luggage and tools.
