Posting: Press coverage about destination weddings
"On Saturday, July 7, the Star-News ran a front-page story about the growing importance of our region as a wedding destination. The reporter, Sam Scott, started with an assignment to do a feature on the "7/7/7" wedding phenomenon, but quickly realized there was a more significant story about the business impact. Among those quoted in the story are Association Board members Penelope Morningstar and John Meyer, and member Jan Gilbert (Flowers by Jan). Here's a link to an online version of the story.

Posting: Ad etc.
"I know she discussed the distribution numbers but exactly how many out of town brides do you think actually contact the VB? I think our money would be better spent on the Association website. Most brides and most people use the internet for information. Think about it, you need info where do you go? Google! You more than likely do not call the VB....I would prefer that the money is spent optimizing the current website and upgrading as well. The Association website should be the 1 stop place for all brides local and out of town for informaiton about Wilmington weddings. "

Posting: Co-op ad proposal for destination weddings
"We have an opportunity to partner with the Convention & Visitors Bureau through a co-op ad page in its upcoming 2011 Visitors Guide publication. This will allow the Association, and any vendors who wish to participate individually, to deliver the message that the Wilmington area is a great destination for weddings. Before making a final commitment, which will involve funds from membership dues, we'd like to hear any ideas, suggestions, questions or concerns from members. Please share your thoughts."
