Weekend weddings
Fridays and Sundays can help you avoid crunch
times
Return to articles index | Weekday weddings
Time was when weddings
were always on Sunday. Now, most weddings are performed on Saturday
with the reception following. Their popularity guarantees that some
reception facilities are booked as much as 18 months in advance
for Saturdays in July and August.
If you can plan a Friday or Sunday wedding,
or at least the reception on those days, your choices will be greater,
and in some cases, your cost might be reduced.
Check first with your clergy to see if they
perform Sunday weddings, as many prefer to devote Sunday exclusively
to regular worship services and family.
Some restaurants will close down exclusively
for your reception on those days, with special rates or packages.
Your favorite DJ or band is more likely to have any day but Saturday
free, and the same holds true with your preferred photograher and
videographer. During prom season, Friday or Sunday may be the only
time you can hire a limousine.
