Downtown, the beaches, and valet parking
A solution for congested traffic

and transportation
There are two huge reasons
why Wilmington is such a popular wedding destination: the nearby beaches, and the charms of historic downtown
and the Cape Fear River.
These attractions are also hugely popular with locals and tourists who want to
be there, too. As in any place where real estate is scarce and pricey, so is parking.
Downtown Wilmington has three public parking decks, as well as a number of off-street
parking lots. The first hour in the public decks is free; it's a dollar an hour after that. Most lots
charge a flat rate.
Expect to pay, through meters or pay stations, for parking at Wrightsville Beach
($1.50 an hour) and Carolina Beach ($1 an hour.) At Wrightsville Beach, Lanier Parking sells parking permits
for special events. These pay for up to a full day's parking for $8, but do not guarantee you a space. Call
256-5453 for details.
Valet parking
If your wedding or reception
are planned for places where parking is limited or inconvenient, you can help get your guests to and from
their cars -- or you can get their cars to and from your guests.
A valet parking service ensures that everybody can get right to the door and not have to worry about waiting for a shuttle service at a remote parking site.
It's also a luxurious touch that's quite affordable compared to other transportation
services.
Depending on the location, the cars may be placed in public parking spaces or
on privately owned lots.
A valet service should be able to show you insurance policies that cover their
drivers and your guests' vehicles.
