Silk flowers
Lifelike, colorful, durable: a creative alternative

If you wish your wedding flowers could last forever, you may want to consider using silk flowers. As an alternative to fresh flowers and their pollen, silks can be a solution to allergy problems. They can also be a more affordable way to include exotic or out-of-season blossoms in your arrangements.
Keep in mind, though, that not all silk flowers are created equal. If you want a look and feel comparable to fresh blooms, be prepared to pay at least comparable prices.
Low-cost artificial flowers, made of synthetic fabrics rather than real silk, won’t match the real thing in color or feel.
There are real advantages to choosing good-quality silk flowers, however.
The most attractive benefit is the obvious one: Silk flowers don’t fade or wilt. And for an occasion as special as a wedding, many sentimental brides insist on having at least their bouquet done in silk so they'll have it as a keepsake, or can pass it on to their daughters.
If you or members of your wedding party have allergies, silk can be the best choice to avoid red eyes or sneezing during the ceremony.
Professionals make beautiful silk flowers that are very lifelike, and can even spray them with the scent of the real thing. Because they aren’t limited by colors or varieties, the bride and her florist can get very creative while still matching the color scheme of the wedding.
The durability of silk allows the bride to see her flowers ahead of time and make any desired changes.
Ask your florist's advice about whether silk flowers can play a part in your wedding ensemble.
