Your wedding rings
Style, size and budget considerations

Almost all brides wear a wedding ring and most husbands do, too. Since the choice of wedding rings is virtually limitless, you may want to shop several jewelers before making your final decision. So start looking at least four months before your wedding date.
If the bride-to-be has an engagement ring, the selection of wedding rings must center around that ring. She may know exactly what she wants. There may be a ready match available, or it may be necessary to try on dozens of rings to find the one that is most suitable.
In some instances, the bride's wedding ring may have to be custom made. This is where a reliable jeweler is essential. Doubtless he will have many suggestions. Let the jeweler’s years of experience and trained eye guide you in your choice.
If the groom is also going to wear a wedding ring, many couples think in terms of a matched set. He will have to find a style that pleases him and suits his hand.
Traditional yellow gold is still most commonly used for wedding rings, but white gold, platinum and two-tone styles are increasingly popular. Many jewelers offer combinations of gold and platinum for a distinctive contemporary look.
Another current trend is engraved rings, in a wide variety of designs.
Budgetary considerations include how thick or wide the ring is (more precious metal means a higher price) and the gold content. An 18-karat gold ring is 75 percent gold; 14-karat is 59 percent gold.
Finally, be sure to get an accurate fit, for both comfort and security.
