The name "Pleasure Island" refers to the southern end of New
Hanover County, including the towns of Carolina Beach and Kure Beach and the unincorporated Fort Fisher
area.
At Carolina Beach, there’s
no charge to use the beach and no permits are required. Effective 2007, tents and chairs are not
permitted. Information: Carolina Beach Parks & Recreation, 1121 N. Lake Park Blvd., Carolina Beach,

Fort Fisher is the
unincorporated area south of Kure Beach. The oceanfront gazebo area at the State Historic Site is
available for weddings. A written application and $250 fee are required. Signs are available to
reserve space and direct guests. Tents are permitted in designated areas. P.O. Box 169, Kure Beach,

Just south of the Historic Site is the Fort Fisher State Recreation Area. It has
several miles of beach including the strand in front of the N.C. Aquarium. Weddings are allowed on
the beach with a Special Activity Permit, which costs $30. A week's advance notice is required, with
specifics about the precise location on the beach and such details as the number of chairs, tents,
etc. 1000 Loggerhead Road, Kure Beach, NC 28449; (910) 458-5798.
