Coordinating photography & video
Camera professionals should work together harmoniously

When it comes to capturing a visual record of your wedding, today’s norm is to have at least two cameras: one still and one video.
More and more photographic firms are offering both services, often as a package, or recommending a video firm. This offers the benefit of knowing that the photographer and videographer work well together.
But it’s just as common to deal with two different firms for your still pictures and your movies. Either way, you should expect the experts behind the camera to coordinate their work.
Each should be sensitive enough not to intrude on the other’s shots. You shouldn’t expect your photographer to be totally invisible in your wedding video, but you don’t want to see the cameras front and center in every frame. Likewise, the videographer should be careful to take positions outside the still photographer’s field of vision.
Still photographers and videographers can also cooperate in their use of lighting.
Experienced professionals are happy to work together, consulting before the wedding begins so neither one is taken by surprise by how the other plans to work.
It’s appropriate to ask your photo and video providers about their relationship with each other.

Fitting in to your event
Photographing a wedding is hard work, and in our Southern climate, often hot work. Photo and video professionals dress in a way that allows necessary freedom of movement and basic comfort. You should also expect an unobtrusive look, such as black slacks and shirt, or a simple white blouse or dress shirt. Don’t hesitate to ask about this important detail.
