An economical alternative for an outdoor wedding is a public park. Two of Wilmington’s showplaces, Greenfield Park and Hugh MacRae Park, have beautiful spots for wedding ceremonies.
Greenfield Park’s Fragrance Garden, on the west side of cypress-lined Greenfield Lake, has a lakeside gazebo. In spring, blooming azaleas and wisteria lend spectacular colors. The space is available through the city’s Parks & Recreation Department, 341-7852.

High MacRae, on South College Road at Oleander Drive, has a natural amphitheater surrounding a small pond, lined with azalea bushes. A small gazebo provides a focal point for a ceremony.
Facilities for receptions are limited. Picnic shelters can be rented at Hugh MacRae, which is managed by New Hanover County parks, 798-7275.
