Limousine: a French word for a large luxurious sedan, usually chauffeur-driven; always an expression of class and style and less expensive than you might think.
Hiring a limousine to carry you, your family or the wedding party to the festivities will leave your own car free for last-minute errands, save traffic hassles, and ensure that you and your gown arrive unruffled. Using a limousine service gives the bride and groom a range of choices from simple, elegant arrival and departure to a grand "arriving in style" procession at an outdoor ceremony or reception.
Limousines should be reserved at least two months ahead. In Wilmington, for the most popular spring and fall wedding dates, consider booking nine to 12 months in advance to ensure availability.
Many limousine services can help with other transportation needs, providing vans and sedans for carrying out-of-town guests or members of the wedding party.
Some services also have vintage cars available for a special historic touch.
A similar touch of elegance from the past can come from a horse-drawn carriage. This is most practical for relatively short distances and in mild weather.
In some circumstances, either large numbers of guests from out of town, or the wedding or reception held at sites without convenient parking, bigger vehicles can quickly get bridal party and guests from hotel to wedding to reception and back.
Besides charter bus and van services, firms in both Wilmington and Carolina Beach have replicas of old-time trolley cars that can be rented for wedding parties. Call early for rates and availability.
