The video interview
A new option
in wedding videos is high definition,
the super-crisp format that is revolutionizing video recording and
broadcasting.
HD video captures roughly three times more
detail than the standard professional format. It gives near-cinematic
quality on a large-screen high-definition monitor.
HD equipment is rapidly becoming more common
and prices are falling. Expect this trend to continue as high
definition becomes the standard for video display. Even if you can’t
watch a video in high definition now, think about how your wedding video
will look in the future.
An important development in 2008 should accelerate
the move to high definition as the standard for recorded video.
For several years, a “format war” kept many
consumers – and video professionals – on the fence, not wanting to
commit to a technology that might become obsolete, as the Betamax
videotape format lost out to VHS in the 1980s.
But Sony’s Blu-Ray format prevailed as Toshiba
abandoned its competing HD-DVD format. This means you can confidently
buy an HD player and commit to obtaining Blu-Ray formatted DVDs, whether
you’re buying Hollywood movies or your own wedding video. Wedding
videographers will also begin investing in the equipment needed to
deliver their product in Blu-Ray HD.
It may be a number of years before Blu-Ray
displaces standard DVD players in most homes, however. So it’s
important that a high-definition video project be viewable immediately.
An HD wedding video should be delivered on both
a Blu-Ray disc and a regular DVD, which can be played right now on
standard video equipment.
