Favors and sweets
Personalized gifts, candies, are final sweet touch

Today's wedding guests
most often receive mementos that can
be enjoyed at home as a remembrance of this special day.
The tradition originated with the French kings, and precious gifts that were given to guests at royal weddings. As the tradition spread, simpler gifts such as confections took the place of gems and gold.
Bridesmaids can dispense them individually from beribboned baskets as guest arrive or leave either the ceremony or the reception. Or arrange with your caterer to place mementos above each dinner plate where guests will be surprised and delighted to find this little gift to take home. For an extra-special personalized touch, favors can be customized to function as place cards at a formal reception.
Personalized chocolates, fortune cookies, foil-wrapped customized coins and special candies can be used in a variety of ways to sweeten your reception, bridal showers, grooms dinners, and as "thank-you" gifts to attendants or special guests.
Other creative ideas: a packet of flower seeds imprinted with your names and the date; a mini bottle of "private label" champagne with your message; packages of miniature candies labeled with your names, or bottles of "bubbles" to blow at the departing newlyweds in place of throwing rice.
Common and inexpensive personalized items
include cocktail napkins and matchbooks imprinted with the bridal
couple's names. These are available through party supply stores.
Personalized with your names or initials and wedding date, or even your photograph, guest mementos add a charming touch to the festivities and make your wedding even more memorable.
In addition to your cake, other sweets can create lasting memories at your wedding reception. Don't overlook the special touch that mints or chocolates can add to your cake table. Many confectioners will customize candies engraved with your names or initials. Chocolates or almonds wrapped in netting coordinated in your cake colors are festive mementos for your guests. Candies combined with flowers and netting or ribbon can make lovely table decorations or centerpieces. They will make the photos of your cake-cutting ceremony more colorful.
It is customary to save the top layer of your wedding cake and few of your confections for next year so you and your groom can share those sweet memories again on your first anniversary.
