Caring for your diamond
Keeping that stone clean and sparkling

diamond ring    Diamonds are evaluated by the four C's: Cut, Color, Clarity and Carat weight. But to keep your diamond looking its sparkling best, you should add another C: Clean!
Soap, oils, and dirt block the light refraction that makes a diamond sparkle. That's why special jewelry-cleaner products are available. The denatured alcohol you use to clean your tape heads is wonderful but expensive and it evaporates too fast. If you can stand the smell, good old ammonia is most effective and inexpensive. Keep a small jar of it handy for regular cleaning or soaking.
Add another C: Checking for loose prongs once a year by your jeweler, who can then clean it professionally and update the appraisal for your insurance company.
Diamonds are as unique as fingerprints and these last two C's will help you to display yours with pride -- and without worry.
