Receiving lines
Maid or Matron of Honor
(Brides right-hand woman)
- Gets own gown & accessories.
- Helps arrange bridal shower.
- Keeps record of shower and wedding gifts.
- Acts as official witness.
- Unofficially calms the bride's nerves.
- Helps bridesmaids on wedding day.
- Holds brides bouquet (and possibly gloves) during ceremony.
- Rearranges train before recessional.
- Helps bride change into going-away apparel.
Bridesmaids
- Get own gowns & accessories.
- Help in all pre-wedding festivities.
- Wrap small reception gifts (optional)
- Fill cups with confetti, rice, or rose petals to throw for the getaway
- Decorate the cars.
Best Man
(Grooms right-hand man)
- Responsible for own attire.
- Makes sure groom arrives on time.
- Oversees ushers duties.
- Acts as official witness.
- Gives toast and special speeches at ceremony and reception.
- Delivers officiants fee (in envelope.)
- Keeps rings, license, and honeymoon tickets ready in a safe place.
- Acts as toastmaster at the bridal table
- Plans transportation for reception exit.
- Returns grooms formal wear as soon as possible after the wedding.
Ushers
- Responsible for own attire.
- Involved in all ceremony festivities.
- Greet all guests at the ceremony, ask which family they represent,
and seat them accordingly. Brides family and friends sit on
the right of the aisle (facing altar) and grooms on the left.
- Two ushers unroll aisle runner after brides mother is seated.
Flower Girl
- Precedes the bride, tossing paper petals or fresh flower petals along the aisle
- Dress complements the bridesmaids' dresses
Ring Bearer
- Walks down the aisle carrying the ring, or substitute, secured to a satin pillow.
