Gifts for your attendants
A special thank-you for those who stand beside you

Any woman who has ever been a bridesmaid knows that, aside from the honor, it can cost significant time, energy and money. So it’s appropriate to thank your attendants with a gift.
The rehearsal dinner is an appropriate time to express your appreciation with gifts. Or, if you will all be having your hair and makeup done together, give the gifts when you’re all gathered at the salon or spa.
Some brides pick individual gifts matched to their bridesmaids’ tastes and needs, while others will choose identical items for everyone. Either way, you should try to find gifts in the same price range. That doesn’t mean you can’t give your maid of honor something extra nice, in recognition of her special role.
Jewelry is a popular choice, especially an item meant to be worn at the wedding. Pick necklaces, earrings or bracelets that complement the bridesmaids’ dresses.
If your attendants will be traveling -- typical of “destination weddings” in our coastal region -- you may want to choose gifts that suggest a sense of place.
For example: a book about the destination, or a selection of locally produced gourmet food items or wines, or gift certificates to a local restaurant or for such luxury services as massage or beauty treatments.
Friends and relations who come to Wilmington for your wedding may decide to stay and enjoy the beach for a few days. That could be a good excuse to make a gift of a tote bag, towel, or other beach gear.
Because it really is true that “it’s the thought that counts,” hand-made and personalized items can make treasured gifts.
The most important consideration is to make what you give a reflection of your feelings about your bridesmaids.
